Who is an Optometrist?

Optometrists are the eye doctors to whom we go to get our eyes checked. These doctors have special training for examining the eyes, diagnosing any problem, treating the eye problems; prevent the various diseases and disorders of the eyes.

How does poor vision affect my child’s learning?

80% of the learning done in the classroom is done through eyes and it is found that 1 out of 6 children suffer from vision problem. Children having poor vision cannot concentrate on their work and may not have overall development as they lack the skills of reading, copying and eye coordination.

When should I take my child to the optometrist for eye checkup?

A child who is six months old should be taken to the eye doctor for eye checkup. Studies have shown that about 10% of pre-school children and young children suffer with vision problems and they need proper treatment to correct them. As children cannot express their problems very well so regular visit to the eye doctor is helpful in identifying the actual problem. Early treatment helps the children to get adjusted to the treatment better.

What should I do when my eyes start itching?

Never start putting in any drop without consulting the optometrist. This may cause serious problem for your eyes.
